David desJardins has a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in mathematics. His doctoral research was in the field of information theory. Dr. desJardins worked as a researcher at the Center for Communications Research in Princeton, N.J., a think tank for the U.S. government, and as a software engineer at Google, where he was among the first 30 employees. Since leaving Google, he has been engaged in angel investing, consulting, research, and philanthropy. He is a member of the MIT Corporation and has supported research at MIT and UC Berkeley. He is a top-ranking player of the fantasy board game Titan. He is currently a trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation.
