Berkeley’s Social Sciences students and alumni made a resounding impact at the Paris Olympics, securing eight medals in total. Their impressive haul includes two golds, four silvers and two bronze medals in sports such as rowing, discus, swimming, hammer throw, water polo, etc. Twenty athletes from Social Sciences competed in the 2024 Olympics, highlighting the Division’s extraordinary talent.
“We congratulate our Berkeley Social Sciences Olympians, who embraced the Olympic spirit of friendship and competition and gave it their all,” Berkeley Social Sciences Dean Raka Ray said.

Gold Medal

Political Economy alumna Camryn Rogers won a gold medal in the women’s hammer throw for Team Canada.

Political Economy student Jack Alexy won a gold medal in the men’s 4x100m swimming freestyle relay for Team USA.
Silver Medal

Geography alumna Sydney Payne won a silver medal in the women’s eight rowing for Team Canada.

Geography alumnus Olav Molenaar won a silver medal in men’s eight rowing for Team Netherlands.

Psychology student Mykolas Alekna won a silver medal in the men’s discus for Team Lithuania.
