Welcome to the Roger Herst Quantum Nexus, the premier hub and convener for quantum research and application at UC Berkeley and beyond.

Located at 2105 Bancroft Way, the 6,000-square-foot Herst Quantum Nexus serves as a dedicated “interaction space” for quantum scientists, engineers, students, entrepreneurs, and policymakers. Designed to bring people together across sectors and institutions, the Nexus offers flexible meeting rooms, collaboration zones, and space for visiting teams and partners. “The Nexus gives us a place where ideas can move quickly across theory, experiment, engineering, and application,” Dean of the Division of Mathematical & Physical Sciences (MPS) Steven Kahn said. “It will help our researchers and students connect with partners across the state and accelerate the pace of quantum discovery.” By providing a shared venue for academia, industry, and government, the Nexus supports the kind of sustained, face-to-face engagement needed to advance quantum information science and prepare a diverse quantum workforce.
With excellence in both basic and applied research and highly ranked departments across the relevant disciplines, as well as seamless collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, UC Berkeley is ideally placed to lead the growth of quantum information science and technology in the twenty-first century. As the state’s and the nation’s leading public university, and a widely acknowledged engine of social mobility for students of all backgrounds and life experiences, Berkeley is also poised to contribute at scale to training tomorrow’s leaders — the physicists, computer scientists, engineers, chemists, and others who will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to achieve accelerated progress.
