Caitlin C. Rosenthal is an associate dean of social sciences. Rosenthal’s teaching and scholarship center on the history of American capitalism, with a particular focus on the ethical implications of data practices. Her first book, Accounting for Slavery, examined the relationship between violence and innovation on slave plantations, and she is currently researching the history of the Human Resources profession. She is also associate professor in the Department of History and an affiliated faculty member at the Haas School of Business.
