Students completing University of California 7-Course Patternwill automatically satisfy the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement. Completion of two 7-Course Pattern English composition (UC-E) courses will guarantee satisfaction of one half of the Reading & Composition (R&C A). We highly recommend that students complete UC-E courses that articulate to R&C A and R&C B in order to satisfy the requirement in full. This FAQ explains how AP scores apply to the R&C requirement.
Completion of additional L&S General Education (GE) requirements with 7-Course Pattern will depend on whether the courses articulate to each individual L&S GE requirement as published in the General Education agreement in assist.org. We strongly encourage students to complete Cal-GETC/UC IGETC certification in addition to 7-Course Pattern to guarantee satisfaction of L&S GE requirements prior to transfer as shown above on the chart labeled "L&S Degree Requirements Satisfied with Cal-GETC or UC IGETC."
