Our Mission
The New Leader Scholarship provides aid to extraordinary graduate students in public universities. We are committed to supporting financially disadvantaged students and people of color who have been marginalized and who demonstrate leadership capacities and a commitment to community service.
The New Leader Scholarship
Awards are made annually to graduate students. Recipients will be known as New Leader Scholars and will be awarded to students pursuing graduate education at UC Berkeley who have demonstrated a focus and commitment to social justice with high potential for leadership. Fellowships will be awarded to historically excluded communities such as formerly incarcerated, system impacted, re-entry, transfer, undocumented, single parent, New Leader alumni and students of color. Prospective recipients will be identified, screened, and selected by the Graduate Division. The amount of the awards will be flexible depending upon available funds.
