Drosophila Adult Testis

Drosophila Adult Testis

Drosophila adult testis stained for SX L protein (top) or DN A (bottom). Staining shows female-specific expression of Sex-lethal in the male germline and some resulting abnormalities in male germ cell development that inappropriate expression causes (for example, the round cyst of many cells far from the apex). Female expression is induced in males simply by increasing in dose of Sxl+ and of sans-fille, a gene involved in RN A splicing. (from Hager and Cline, 1997).
