How to Plan Ahead for your EGT

Before you enroll in classes at Berkeley for your EGT semester, it is essential that you check to make sure that classes you have chosen will satisfy any remaining degree requirements.

Students who do not meet the terms of academic probation may be dismissed from the College. This is not necessarily the end of a student's academic career at UC Berkeley. Many strong students have been dismissed and have been able to return and graduate from Berkeley. In order to resume studies at Berkeley, students will need to be readmitted by the Deans' Conference.

Statement of Student Responsibility

You and the University share responsibility for your education. Our most successful students recognize the responsibility they must assume for their own progress. At UC Berkeley, you have the freedom to make independent decisions about your academic career. With this freedom comes the need to be responsible not only about your academics, but also about the administrative duties you need to complete in order to graduate.

Changing Majors

While it is possible under certain circumstances to change majors, it is always important to consider such a move carefully, keeping in mind that undertaking a new major program late in your college career will usually involve considerable additional time and effort.

Double Majors and Simultaneous Degrees

Students in L&S who wish to pursue more than one major may apply for a double major or simultaneous degrees. A double major program consists of two L&S majors resulting in a Bachelor of Arts degree with two majors, with one diploma issued. Simultaneous degree programs consist of a major in L&S and another from a different school or college on the campus.
