B.A. in Communication Studies from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (2015)

About me:
I'm a Los Angeles native, lived in sunny San Luis Obispo during my undergrad career, but have called the Bay Area home for the past two years. I absolutely love travelling (just visited Iceland as country #20!), hiking, camping trips, going to concerts, listening to podcasts, and drinking good coffee with loved ones.

How did you get here?
I loved working in different departments all throughout Cal Poly's campus -- even throughout my time as a college student! I was heavily involved with Orientation Programs, and trained current Cal Poly students how to become a successful orientation leaders to incoming freshmen and transfer students. Having the opportunity to act as a source of campus knowledge and creating a welcoming environment for new students was incredibly rewarding, thus inspiring my return to higher education. I'm ecstatic to be here at UC Berkeley to help this diverse student body through the most transformative years of their lives!

What is the best class I have ever taken?
Intercultural Communication, and Bowling 101 (for fun - Cal Poly has a bowling alley on campus!)

What is your approach to advising?
Actively listen to the student's concerns, and provide them a source of encouragement and support. I love asking questions to help students tackle a problem from a different angle they might not have considered before!

What advice do you have for L&S students in general?
Get involved and find things during this time that fulfill you academically and personally! Take the steps to plan ahead for a successful college career, but also allow yourself the freedom to explore and try new things.
