Faculty/Advising

The ISF Major emphasizes the role of the faculty adviser, and past students have cited advising as one of the program's real strengths. The nature of the field major requires careful discussion of the proposed Area of Concentration and consultation to select courses that best combine students' individual interests and the major program's common goals and educational concerns. To begin to develop this advising relationship, students are assigned an adviser upon acceptance into the major. Faculty members outside UGIS may serve as advisers when appropriate.
