SUBSTITUTIONS for the world civilization requirement:
With consent of adviser, you may substitute an appropriate course not on this list. The substitute course must be comparable to one of the courses listed above and/or be particularly suited to the student's Concentration and research. Above all, the proposed course must conform to the intention of the requirement, namely that students need both a broad background regarding the foundations of societies and cultures and an opportunity to develop the historico-geographical awareness that adds substance to the study of the social sciences or humanities.
