The UC Diversity Initiative for Graduate Study in the Social Sciences (UC-DIGSSS) program is a three-campus alliance of UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UC Santa Barbara. Our goal is to work collaboratively to find new ways to improve and support ethnic diversity among doctoral students in the social sciences at each of the three campuses. Using National Science
Foundation guidelines, the program awards grants to support students who are members of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in PhD programs in the social, behavioral, and economic sciences.
Each campus has its own diversity coordinator, as well as unique policies and programs to recruit and support a diverse range of graduate students. Different departments participate in the UC-DIGSSS program at each campus.
