Homecoming, Reunion, & Family Weekend 2000 Update:
L & S "Picnic with the Profs" Rescheduled as a 10:00 a.m. Brunch

This year's Homecoming football game against U

kicks off at 12:30 p.m. Saturday October 14, rather than at 3:30 p.m.,
as originally scheduled. The football game is the centerpiece of Homecoming,
Reunion, and Family Weekend 2000. Some events planned to precede the
game have been rescheduled.

Q and the Chancellor's Keynote Address on the Campanile
Esplanade now commence together at 10:00 a.m. as the Homecoming
Brunch and Chancellor's Keynote Address. (For a complete schedule

The College of Letters and Science is hosting a "Picnic with
the Profs" at the Homecoming Brunch. Register*
to enjoy brunch with old friends and faculty and deans of the College
and hear the Chancellor's address. Look for the tent with the L
& S banner west of the Campanile.
Throughout the weekend, campus faculty will be presenting a variety
of seminars, free with homecoming registration*. Eight Letters and Science
professors contribute to these Faculty Seminars. They are:
- Professor of Anatomy Marian Diamond presenting An Optimistic
View of the Aging Brain in Session 1 on Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00

- University Professor Marvin L. Cohen, Department of Physics, discussing
New Materials with Exotic Properties during Session 3 on Friday,

- Professor of Music Katherine Bergeron addressing The Art of Song
in France at the Dawn of the 20th Century in Session 4 on Friday,

10 minutes earlier than scheduled originally).
- Professor of Psychology Christina Maslach discussing Facing the
Future: New Challenges for Cal in Session 6, Saturday 11:30 a.m.

Please note the following changes to the Faculty Seminars.
- Professor of Anthropology and Folklore Alan Dundes' Folk Humor
as a Mirror of Society lectures are cancelled (Faculty SeminarsSession
3 and Session 6).
- The Faculty SeminarsSession 5a (formerly Session 7) are now
scheduled for 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. rather than 1:30 p.m. to 2:30
p.m. However, the lecture with Geoff Marcy, Professor of Astronomy,
The Revolution in Planetary Systems, is cancelled.
