Hi folks,

The campus User-Centered Design (UCD) Group is excited to be showing
UIE's "Faceted Search: Designing Your Content, Navigation and User
Interface" seminar live TOMORROW Thursday, August 20th from
10:30am-12pm in 127 Dwinelle Hall. You can watch a preview of the
seminar here: http://www.uie.com/events/virtual_seminars/facets/.
We'll also have a short discussion afterwards -- feel free to bring
your lunch!

I've posted a link to the slides to the "UIE Seminars" bSpace (http://bspace.berkeley.edu
) site We recommend bringing a copy of the slides to the seminar. I'll
also post the full seminar recording of this event to bSpace when we
receive it after the event is over. Please contact me if you are not
currently a member of the bSpace site and need access. If you are a
member, after logging into bSpace with your CalNet ID, "UIE Seminars"
should appear as a bSpace 'tab' near the top of the page.

 From the UIE.com website:

Through this webinar, you will learn:

How to leverage the basic rules of facet analysis to categorize your
content
How to effectively work with both structured content, such as
catalogs, and unstructured content, such as documents
How to design for complex interaction models, such as multi-selects
using AND, OR, or even negation
How to avoid “gotchas” for category counts or search wildcards, so
your design meets your users' expectations
Hope to see you there!
Allison
