Web friends: The Office of Public Affairs has just completed a set of
web page design templates, based on the new UC Berkeley gateway site,
for free use on any campus website. These templates will allow you to
have a flexible, standards-based site that harmonizes with the main
campus site without all that heavy lifting and designing. An
introduction to the templates, along with a quick-start guide and
instructions for common modifications, is online at
http://www.berkeley.edu/webstyle/readme.shtml

The full set of files can be downloaded at:

    http://www.berkeley.edu/webstyle/UCBtemplates.zip

Make sure to retain the folder structure from the .ZIP archive when you
extract the files to your site.

Although I've tried to swat all the bugs, I'm sure some have slipped
through. Please let me know of any problems you find, and I'll try fix
them for future users. I'm also planning to keep track of fixes,
modifications and enhancements on a soon-to-launch blog; details are in
the Next Steps section of the documentation file.

Happy holidays!

~ Steve
