Farewell

Friends and colleagues, my last day at UC is 9/6/05. After months of
planning, my retirement date is nearly here. I have worked with a
large number of people across the campus during my 25 years in IST,
so I am sending this farewell note broadly.

Being a staff member at UC Berkeley is not an easy road, and I would
like to express my gratitude for the competence and reliability shown
by so many staff over the years, through thick and through thin. I
would like to express my appreciation for all the moments of success,
knowledge, and fun that we have experienced.

People have been asking, what are you going to do now? First, I am
going to take it easy for awhile. During the coming year, I will
figure out where I want to direct my energies. I have too many
interests, not too few. It will be a fascinating adventure.
