   I'm a bit unclear about what you're asking, but if you would like
the ability to perform simple WYSIWYG editing within a textarea
field, you might try searching on "wysiwyg textarea" in Google or
another search engine. In Google alone, there are over 30,000 hits;
perhaps one of the techniques or products mentioned might meet your
needs. Here's one example, whose latest beta is claimed to work with
Mozilla-based browsers on multiple platforms:

   It also appears that textarea fields can be styled using the usual
inline, head, or stylesheet methods of applying CSS styles to
document elements, although presumably these styles apply to the
entire textarea field, rather than to specific text runs (for
instance) within that field?
