Presented by the Center for Document Engineering
Thursday, November 13, 2003 12:00 - 2:00 pm
South Hall room 205

You are cordially invited to a two-hour workshop to introduce BXD ‹ Center
in a Box, a free, open-source web publishing framework developed by the
Center for Document Engineering at UC Berkeley.
Center in a Box was designed to simplify the publishing and sharing of rich
content for small to medium-sized organizations on the web. By enforcing
structure in a site's content using XML and XML Schemas, Center in a Box
separates content from presentation allowing a site's underlying data to be
easily shared and repurposed as XHTML, PDF, RSS, and virtually any other
format. Center in a Box also reinforces best practices with regard to
usability, accessibility, and search engine optimization using a built-in
library of extensible transformations.
More information about Center in a Box can be found at
http://cde.berkeley.edu/initiatives/centerinabox/ .
The workshop will consist of an introduction to Center in a Box with a focus
on how structured content can benefit both your organization and your site's
users.
Please feel free to bring lunch. You will not need to bring anything else to
participate.
