From The Scholar's Workstation
TSW's website is comprised of about 60 core pages that call hundreds of
include files -- depending on which item a visitor is viewing. The site
is a mixture of database and hard-coded html. In the end, each product
page has both database data and hard-coded html. When a page is
generated, data from the database is merged with one or more html files
to produce the final page. Each product in the database has at least
one include file associated with it. We have over 1000 html include
files and well over 2000 images.
The web interface and day-to-day maintenance of the site -- writing all
the html include files and updating the products in the database -- is
handled by me (Marcos Saramago). The management -- direction, features,
etc. -- of the site is handled by Mark Laws, TSW's IS Manager. The
back-end programming, server maintenance, etc., is handled by Lucas
Rockwell. We are all full-time employees, however, only I spend 100
percent of my time on the site. Mark and Lucas spend about 100 percent
combined on the site, as each has other responsibilities at TSW.
Cheers,
Marcos Saramago
