ANNOUNCING...a unique opportunity to preview and use a powerful new
PowerPoint presentation tool!
Do you need to (or want to) provide lecture slides to students,
presentations to colleagues, or information to staff?
Would you like a way to deliver those slides online?
Educational Technology Services(ETS) is continuing pilot testing of Wanadu
iCreate, an easy to use tool that enables PowerPoint authors to convert any
presentation to an Internet-friendly version (for information about the
Fall 2002 pilot, read our BC&C article,
http://istpub.berkeley.edu:4201/bcc/Winter2003/news.webpppilot.html.)
Tool Features
iCreate uploads a PowerPoint presentation and converts it to the Flash
format for optimal distribution on the web.
In addition to standard PowerPoint animations and links, the following
features are also available to include in any presentation:
· Audio narration (using this provides a self-playing, self-standing
presentation)
· Video clips
· Clickable audio buttons
· Quizzes
· Surveys
The tool is designed to be used on the Windows platform, although Mac OS
users can also convert most presentations.Pilot GoalsThe primary goal of
this project is to assess whether a product of this type is valuable as a
campus-wide tool for delivery of course, training, and marketing or
outreach content. Assessment of the project will include evaluation of the
tool itself as well as the value it brings to the process of teaching and
learning and outreach activities.
Who can join the pilot project?
Any interested staff or faculty are welcome to test this tool.
What support is available to pilot testers?
ETS will provide an orientation, a hands-on training session, and ETS
consulting will be available for testers who feel they need assistance with
installation or use of the tool to meet their needs. We will be available
throughout the semester to answer any technical or usage issues.
What do I need to provide to ETS?
Testers are asked to provide feedback to ETS though two online surveys: one
mid-semester survey and one at the end of the semester. ETS will also hold
a semester-end feedback session. ETS will distribute student and end-user
surveys before the end of the semester.
How do I get more info or sign up?
If you are interested in finding out more about this pilot, come to an
orientation on Monday, February 10, noon to 1, in 117 Dwinelle Hall. (You
can also find out more about the tool at
http://www.wanadu.com/new/site/icreate.html.)
If you already know you'd like to participate in the pilot, go directly to
http://209.81.50.25:80/icat/control/register and fill out the form you'll
find there. (You'll need to make up your own username and password.) To
ensure that participants are members of the UC Berkeley community, we
require that you provide a berkeley.edu email address. (If you don't have a
Berkeley email address but are a member of the UC Berkeley community, send
mail to wep-pilot@media.berkeley.edu, and we'll let you know how to proceed.)
If you have questions, please send mail to wep-pilot@media.berkeley.edu.
