Hi everyone,
Herešs a document from HP that shows what you can do to lock down a
jetdirect based printer:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpj05
999
Specifically, this part:
Security Step 6 - Allow list or access control list
HP Jetdirect print servers with firmware of x.08.03 or above supports the
ability to limit the access to the printer by creating an allow list or
access control list in a telnet session.
The access control list specifies a range of IP addresses would be allowed
TCP connections with the HP Jetdirect.
The access control list affects printing as well as management.
Therefore, be sure to include the administrator computeršs IP address and
the print spooling computeršs IP addresses when configuring the list.
The strange part is that they donšt mention whether you can do this only in
telnet, or if it can be done through WebJetAdmin.
I think you can do this through webjetadmin, but I havenšt tested it.
And, some older JD cards donšt have firmware revisions up to v8. So, you
might be looking at having to get newer jd cards.
