Dear colleagues,

This is a reminder that web-hosting services on Socrates and Arachne
will end tomorrow December 19, 2008. Thank you to the many customers
who have moved their websites from Socrates and Arachne
successfully. We appreciate the energy and effort required to make
this transition to an improved, reliable and secure environment.

If you have not moved your site yet, please review the steps to
migrate to IST’s pilot program hosted at Dreamhost at: http://
ist.berkeley.edu/services/tam/socrates_arachne_solutions or contact
tam_at_berkeley.edu if you are interested in an IST hosted solution.

Please note that IST will be running with minimal staffing levels
during curtailment period from 12/25/08 to 1/05/09. Contacting us
during that period will result a ticket that we will respond to
beginning 1/5/09.

Socrates

IST will terminate Socrates web services on December 19, 2008 and
your website will no longer be publicly available. You may access
your files to complete your migration through January 31, 2009. To
gain file access, log into your account using the server name:
oldsocs.berkeley.edu. Your files will not be available after this
date. Questions should be directed to socrates_consult_at_berkeley.edu.

Pine users will have until January 31, 2009 to finish moving their
mailboxes. If you have questions, please contact the IST Service Desk
at socrates_consult_at_berkeley.edu.

Statistical and Math application users will have until January 31,
2009 to migrate to another environment. There will be another
communication with more information in the near future. If you have
any questions, please contact Jack Burris of SSCL at
jackspace_at_berkeley.edu.

Arachne

IST will also terminate Arachne web services on December 19, 2008,
with a few noted exceptions. Unless you have an exception, your
website will no longer be publicly available as of this date. You may
access your files to complete your migration through January 31,
2009. There is no change to the server name. Your files will not be
available after this date.
