I want to move our existing Oracle 8i database from a HP Unix Alpha Server to a Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 with Windows 2003 Server running on it. I have to keep 8i because of the application using it. I successfully installed the Oracle 8i software on the Virtual Server but when I create the database the install hangs when creating the Listener. I can not seem to get past this. If I install Oracle 8i on a hard iron server with Windows 2003 Server I can install the Oracle Software and create the database with no problem.
I was able to install Oracle on the Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 with Windows 2000 Server on it and was able to create the database.
Can anyone tell me why the database install hangs on the VM with Windows 2003?
