EECS is looking into digital signage, perhaps using LCD displays
(below). From what I understand, the Haas School of Business is also
at some stage of looking into either kiosks, digital signage, or both.

Finally, contacts for people at two other UC campuses who spoke at
an August 2007 UC-wide conference about digital signage and
touchscreen kiosks are also appended below. UC Merced, in
particular, may be using plasma displays for signage.

From my UCCSC notes, here's a link to two bookmarks that in turn
provide some background on digital signage and touchscreen kiosk
systems for displaying updated feeds of campus events, such as
courses and workshops, at UC Merced and at the UC Davis School of
Veterinary Medicine, respectively.

The UC Merced link in those bookmarks takes you to a specific point
in the podcast of the UCCSC campus reports, courtesy of my colleague
Rick Jaffe's vTagIt! service, in which Greg Fallin states that "the
majority" of buildings at Merced have plasma displays used for
digital signage.

Greg's contact info (for UC Merced) is at:

The PDF of the Sutter Award submission for the VIPER project at UC
Davis contains names and (for the submitters) contact info for people
involved in the that project, including those who worked on the
course/event kiosk. The two submitters listed here are
administrators, and perhaps some of the project staff listed in that
PDF might be more appropriate direct contacts:
