Hello everyone,
First, thank you for your quick response on license counts for your
department. Our combined UCB total estimates came to approximately
715 licenses.
Based on your feedback, TSW is ordering 850 licenses, and some
numbers of media (we can reorder media, up to, but not to exceed,
850).
We are now waiting on Apple to finalize and approve orders across UC,
and send notification.
I will send a second update once the PO's are accepted and processing
is underway.
Again, thanks for helping us to serve you more efficiently.
April

Subject: Mac OS X License - Coordinated Buy for UC Berkeley
Hello all,
Apple is offering UC Systemwide a one-time 'early adopter' program
for volume license purchase of the recently released Mac OS X
Leopard. The program allows UC campuses to 'pool' their individual
license purchases to take advantage of the 1000+ unit pricing level
of $39 per license.
We have the opportunity to submit one PO per campus, however, the
stipulation for the program is that the total number of copies from
all participating schools must equal or exceed 1000 licenses.
Media can be obtained at $15 per CD (you can order at least one media
per campus department order--must be ordered with any quantity of
licenses, on the same order).
The Scholar's Workstation (TSW) will place a PO on behalf of UC
Berkeley -- due to Apple by December 13 (for ultimate culmination and
approval under the program).
As this is a one-time offering, we would like your thoughts on the
number of Mac OS X Leopard licenses you anticipate ordering for your
department. If we could have your rough numbers by this Friday,
12/7, that would be great.
Currently, we anticipate ordering 500 licenses, and 75 CDs on your
behalf, while keeping in mind, that once we purchase the licenses,
they cannot be returned. Your response will be extremely helpful in
understanding if we are more on target, or need to up the order.
Once the TSW PO is accepted by Apple, we will send another
announcement to you, and make the license and media items available
for order off the http://tsw.berkeley.edu webstore for departments.
Please send your response to info_at_tsw.berkeley.edu by Friday, 12/7
at 12 noon.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks everyone.
