Hello everyone,
The CalNet Team is pleased to announce the official release of the
new CalNet Central Authentication Service (CAS). CAS is a single-sign
on system for web authentication, and will be the successor to AWS.
The CalNet CAS is derived from the JA-SIG-sponsored CAS project which
was originally developed at Yale University.
Information about CalNet's version of CAS can be found on the CalNet
Developers website:
<https://calnet.berkeley.edu/developers/>
CAS is listed at the top of the navigation section under "About the
CalNet Service" and again in the "Developer Resources" section.
You can link directly to it at this URL:
<https://calnet.berkeley.edu/developers/developerResources/cas/
CASAppSetup.html>
You can read the full announcement, including information about the
future of AWS, at the following URL:
<https://calnet.berkeley.edu/news/entry/2007/07/30/01.html>
Also, we have prepared a few Knowledge Base articles about this new
service:
<https://kb.berkeley.edu/jivekb/kbcategory.jspa?categoryID=67>
In particular, you will notice that the login screen looks much
different than the AWS login screen. Please familiarize yourself with
this new screen as your users may be asking you very soon, "What is
this new CalNet login screen?" We know of at least 3 applications
that will be using CAS very soon (within the next few weeks).
The CAS login is located at the following URL:
<https://auth.berkeley.edu/cas/login>
(Make sure there are no spaces in the above URLs.)
If you have any questions, please feel free to send them to calnet-
admin_at_lists.berkeley.edu.
