The mainframe ironwood host system will require mandatory secure (SSL/TLS)
TN3270 connections beginning Sunday (4/15) afternoon.
Users of the following applications may be affected …
Class Scheduling System (CLASS), Course Approval System (COURSE),
Enrollment Systems (ACE, ENR, OLADS, Info-BEARS), General Catalog
(CATALOG), Registration Blocking, Payroll/ Personnel System (PPS, OPTRS),
Registration Fees (AFB), Registration Systems (Profile and SRS), Room
Reservation System (ROOM), Student Aid Management System (SAMS), Student
ID Assignment System (SID), Student Transcript System (STS), Summer
Session Admission and Registration System (SSAR), Transfer Course System
(TCS), Undergraduate Admission System (UGA), University Registrar’s
Information System (URIS) and Final Grade processing, CARS (Student
Accounts Receivable)
If you are not able to connect to ironwood at that time most likely your
TN3270 emulator client either does not support SSL/TLS connectivity or if it
is capable, it has not been configured to request a secure connection. For
more information please read the iNews article “UC Berkeley mainframe TN3270
emulation going SSL/TLS” at:
http://istpub.berkeley.edu:4201/bcc/Spring2007/1000.html.
In addition the mainframe will be unavailable Sunday between 6am and noon
for a scheduled outage and testing of a new release of the mainframe
operating system z/OS.
