saving commercial video locally

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a way to save video from a commercial site,
like CBS, locally? I've looked at SnagIt, SnapzPro and video downloader in
mozilla, but I'm hoping there is a free, easy way to do this and, if it is
possible, I'd like to cut out the preceding commercial.
