Two things off the cuff-

1) Have you waited a while before trying to wake them up? I have had a
case where I had to let it sit there for a while plugged in before it
would respond. Not sure this pertains to your models or not, but it may
be that they need some time powered to become responsive.

2) APC has a trade in program, may be worth investigating, instead of
just new batteries. If you can't get anything from the ups at all, I
wouldn't buy new batts for it. IMHO/YMMV.
