No, the wires are connected. All these UPSs worked at one time.
I sounds like others have had the same problem, with the UPSs
playing dead.
I appreciate everyone's suggestions. I'm going to contact
APC, which I probably should have done to begin with, but
these things are so old I didn't think they'd talk to me.
Apparently APC is good at supporting old equipment.
