Re: Re: [Security] Vulnerability reported in Symantec Anti-virus

I've been running Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition
Version 8.1 on a number of my machines because I was
apprehensive about all of a sudden having ~10 different
Symantec programs running when I installed one of
the Client Security versions. Since all I wanted was
anti-virus it wasn't clear to me whether I needed all
the other programs on Windows XP running the Microsoft
firewall.

Ironically, this version of Symantec does **not** have the
recently discovered bug so I don't have any patching to
do but it got me to wondering whether the anti-virus
function in the Client Security versions is better
than that in version 8.1. I'd be interested in hearing
from any of the experts on this issue.

For what it's worth, I've had no problems with viruses
using this version, other than viruses that appeared
before the pattern files were updated, which could have
happened with any anti-virus product.

Cordially,
