Dear micronet users,

The problem is that in windows 2003 computer management, disk management I
see the drive as unallocated space but new volume is grayed out and I can't
do anything with the extra space.

History:
The server (Proliant 370ml G1) had 3 hard disks (3x36GB) on a raid5
hardware controlled (431 Compaq controller), In the past when the OS was
NT4 PDC, I used a ServerMagic to partition this drive to a three (3)
partitions. this software work just on NT4 server (not on Win 2003).
Last year I upgraded the server to a Win 2003 server, using the same
partitions, since the drive C partition was too small (4GB) I Installed the
Win 2003 OS on Drive E, so far everything worked well.

Running out of space on the Data partition D Drive, we purchased a new HDD
(36 GB ) the same model as the other 3 HDDs.

I added the HDDs to the server and using HP array controller software I
added it to the same array, after initializing, I can see the raid5 as one
big HDD 104GB. (also when I am booting the computer, I can see one big
drive on the controller on the pre post stage).

When I go to the computer management software, I see all the old partitions
and extra unallocated space partition of 36GB, however I cant do anything
with the extra space, when I click the right mouse there are two options 1.
New Volume which is grayed out and I can't do any thing with...
2. Properties

I could not find any solution on Microsoft website, on Google or anywhere ells,
Compaq (HP) tech told me it's a well known problems and Microsoft can help
me to solve the problem. Microsoft want me to pay $250 to help me.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Benjamin.
