Hi Brian,
If the crashing is recent and related to the "bad" emails, here is a
simple fix. It is caused by a gif without an EOF. Thus Eudora spins
into infinity looking for the file end that does not exist. Shut
down Eudora, open the Quallcomm/Eudora/Embedded file and sort by file
type. Click on "View Details". You will see a gif (or more) with no
size listed. Delete that puppy or puppies as the case may be. Look
at the other embedded gifs to see if there are any from people you
would like to get gifs from (I had two). Open Eudora and go to
Tools|Filters. Create filters for those that you want. For the
first "Action" line, transfer to "In" or wherever. The next "Action"
line, set to "Skip Rest". Then drag these filters to the top of the
stack. Then, create a filter that sends any email with ".gif" and
"embedded content" in it, to the trash. This should eliminate most
of the pestiforous emails that cause Eudora to thrash about and hang
themselves. You may occasionally have an email with and embedded gif
from someone you want to receive it from so you may want to review
your Trash daily.
Many thanks to Ken Huie for uwinding this nightmare.
Larry
PS. Why does Eudora's spell checker think that Eudora is misspelled?
