Hello all,
I need some help removing a stubborn mirror. I have a W2k server with two
hard drives, dynamic, set as a mirrored volume with 5 partitions each. Disk
(0) fails, and Disk (1) promptly kicks in. Disk (0) is listed as Missing,
Offline, Failed Redundancy.
I get a new harddrive, make the good Disk (1) the new Disk (0), put the new
drive in as Disk (1), and begin Removing the Mirror from each partition on
the Missing drive. Four of the five partitions have the mirror removed with
no problem, but the last one give the following error message: "The
requested object is in active use, operation not allowed. " Trying to
remove the mirror from the main drive gives a message that the volume is
currently regenerating. Regenerating to what? The Missing drive is on a
shelf 10 feet away!
This is, of course, the most important partition on the drive, the sole
reason for the mirror, and I really don't want to have to restore the data
from backup. Remove Drive and Add Mirror are both grayed out.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Our next step is to put the old bad
drive in as Disk (1) and see what happens, but I wouldn't be surprised if
the machine just gives me a raspberry. It has not been inclined to be
cooperative all morning.
Regards,
Anna
