Re: pop/ad blocking

For Windows users (at least), it's possible to block known ad/spyware sites
by installing (or modifying) the hosts
file to point to your own machine rather than the actual ad/spyware site
whenever a web page tries to link to them.

Instructions, and a downloadable "blacklist" hosts file can be found at:

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Of course, this means that you are trusting the compiler of the "blacklist"
in terms of what sites are
disabled. (and standard disclaimers apply!)
