Illustrator PDF error

Hi Folks:

i have recently been having a problem when saving an Illustrator file
as a pdf. used to be simple and straight-forward: use the option in
the save as dialog.

But lately (unknown what else has changed) the save results in a file
without the original fonts (unless re-opened in Illustrator) so
really of no use.

SOMETIMES (not always) after saving I get an error that there were
'difficulties':

With an Illustrator logo and a red stop sign:
"Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. the file may be damaged"

followed immediately by:

With an Illustrator logo and a red stop sign:
"Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. (UKFG)"

I can't determine if this is a problem with an Illustrator resource
or a problem Illustrator is having with a OS X resource (since the
pdf support is so 'built-in').

I reinstalled Illustrator but no help...

Any ideas? thanks

michael
