Jon,

inr-140, which is the router that serves the Tier 1 networks in
your your neck of the woods, had a line card which began to
fail this weekend. An emergency maintenance was performed,
but became slightly more involved than originally hoped.

The suspect hardware was replaced, but the entire router had
to be reloaded. A posting was made to ucb.net.announce at
approximately 5pm (post-mortem) which described the scope of
the work and the resulting outage.

If you would like me to forward that net-announce to you, I
would be happy to. I'll refrain from posting it again here,
as I imagine many of the micronet list recipients are also
ucb-net-announce subscribers.
