Could this be a funky print job on somebody's machine?
Something that the machine attempts to send, but it never gets
flushed from the machine's queue.
Can you check the machine of the person who received the
e-mail that's in the print job?
Also, maybe you can disconnect the printer from the network
over the weekend or a holiday to determine if the ghost of a job is
"stuck" within the printer, or whether it's been sent to the printer
from a workstation.
Just shots in the dark... sounds like a good puzzler!
