Greetings Holly:

Is it possible that the source of these files is some type of scientific
data acquisition system, such as would be used in spectroscopy?

The file formats you have described can be found as ASCII data reduction
files output by a product named PHI Multipak. Would this make any sense
given where the files came from?

Cheers,
Alex
