Saving as Excel was your first mistake. Excel, in the authoritarian
fashion characteristic of Microsoft products, systematically eliminates
leading zeros, with which the campus chart of accounts abounds. Try saving
as "csv." Then you can use just about any RDBMS known to Western
civilization to convert the comma delimited file to fixed width.
