Michael and all,
please post any fixes you come up with.
I'm having similar problems with a socs account, but:
1) I can only send mail to Socs
2) I also can't download mail.

I did re-install Eudora 4.2, since E5 was said to have problems.
I believe this all started when they installed DRAC.
I have no problem with the spam-proofing, but... it broke something.

Someone at IST was very helpful, and said that it is a DRAC requirement that it
be able to reverse-lookup the IP name from the number.
SBC has assured me that they have never heard of this ability (!)
presumably because the IP # is DHCP'd.

I've not had time to research further, because on Socs I can log in directly,
and mailx on Socs gets me my mail, sort-of = text email,
which is "good enough" for me to not "push the river".

I hope some of this helps,
--Bob
