I've installed SP3 on a whole bunch of
stuff with no problems.
There is one issue with that requires
further meditation. That is that SP3 installs
the Microsoft Automatic Updates service
that claims to keep your system up to date.
You can choose to have the service let you
know before doing anything or to automatically
install updates. I disabled this service because
I'm not sure what would happen if update messages
started appearing on user's screens (I don't
know if that would actually happen). But, more
importantly, as Henry Norr mentions in today's
Chronicle, this seems like a big security
risk.
