I'm also wondering if he really means "virtual *printer* network."
In my discussion with the scholar, we discussed the "printer" part of
it and he emphasized that VTP/Virtual Printer Network wasn't only --
or even necessarily -- for printing, and indeed, it's the computer
and not the printer that he wants to access.
It's quite possible that he really means "virtual private network."
He was telling me what the tech support at his university had told
him, and he's an Englishman working in Norway, so there may be a
translation problem somewhere along the line.
The bottom line is that he wants to work remotely on his Norway
computer while he's at Berkeley. Does the VPN allow this, and if so,
what would I need to do to get him set up?
