        Right, that's so. iPass servers authenticate back through
your local ISP, confirming your "regular" login/password to allow you
to connect.

        iPass is basically a go-between that lets you access
iPass-associated ISPs around the world for connectivity, but
authenticate via your home ISP (since the remote ISP doesn't really
"know" you as their customer). iPass handles the authentication (it
checks w/ your home ISP to let the remote ISP know that you should be
allowed to connect), and then generates call records and billing
information which are then passed back to your local ISP.
