There will be a demonstration of Vector NTI, a bioinformatics
software product from InforMax, on Tuesday, 3/26/02, at 10:00 am in
177 Life Sciences Addition. The InforMax account manager, Justin
Fogarty, says that Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee will be provided.
For this reason, and to ensure that the room can accommodate
everyone, an RSVP is requested. Please contact Justin at
jufogarty@informaxinc.com, or (888) 491-2082.
Vector NTI is a desktop software package that integrates molecular
biology tools (i.e. protein & DNA/RNA analysis, alignment, assembly,
restriction mapping, cloning, BLAST, expression analysis, etc.)
around a relational database. According to the vendor, the software
has over 31,000 users worldwide on the PC and Mac.
If there is enough interest in this product, a volume purchase or
networked license may be possible. Single licenses, even under
academic pricing, range from $2,400 to $6,100, depending on which
modules are needed. These price levels are prohibitive for many
researchers, so a volume purchase may be of interest.
If you have any questions about the product, even if you can't attend
the demo, please contact Justin Fogarty as shown above.
Thanks.
