INNOVATIVE COMPUTING AT HAAS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
February 27, 2002, 4:00 pm
Helzel Board Room, Haas School of Business
Haas School of Business Computing Services is pleased to
present recent and current technology projects and
initiatives, including the MyHaas portal and
personalization engine, designed to bring together the many
sources of information needed by the Haas community.
MyHaas, which began as a request from MBA students, is now
being integrated with other Haas systems and services,
including WebMail, Student Registration, Career Services,
the Learning Management System, and others.
MyHaas uses an open-source portal product called the
Metadot Digital Workplace Server, founded on four other
open-source products: the Apache Web Server, the Perl
Scripting Language, the MySQL Database, and the Linux
Operating System. MyHaas is also based on open standards,
such as Extensible Markup Language (XML), Resource
Description Framework Site Summary (RSS), and Simple Object
Access Protocol (SOAP).
An article about MyHaas can be found at:
http://haas.berkeley.edu/~haasweek/01fall/101501/headlines/myhaas.htm
The portal itself is at: http://myhaas.berkeley.edu
Haas Computing Services is also working closely with others
on the Berkeley campus on CalNet Integration and on
Microsoft Active Directory Service, to provide single
sign-on capability for access to systems and services at
Haas and on the Berkeley campus. Haas continues to pilot
products for Learning Management Systems, including Convene
IZIO, Prometheus, and in the near future, the Catalyst
system from the U.C. Irvine Graduate School of Management.
