For what it's worth, the AT&T Broadband Internet Service Agreement
prohibits the use of a static IP address:
"What is Static IP Addressing?" (2001-09-07)
http://help.broadband.att.com/faq.jsp?content_id=44&category_id=11&lobid=1
"Can I Get a Static Internet Protocol (IP) Address?" (2001-12-03)
http://help.broadband.att.com/faq.jsp?content_id=510&category_id=108&lobid=1
While this method may work for now - or even indefinitely - there
is no guarantee that it will always work.
