destroying data tapes

Hi all,

I recently discovered a stash of old 9-track data tapes that I appear to
have inherited. (Oh the things that turn up when rooms get cleared out.)
These contain confidential data and I've learned that they must be erased
(or otherwise destroyed) in an official enough manner that I can obtain a
certificate of destruction to pass along. Are there any facilities on
campus that can do this? Does anyone know of any other local places that
this can be done?

Many thanks,
-Amy
