Re: Good local ISP?

The major reason I shudder is because Earthlink is a big, impersonal
company that (by the simple fact of its size) cannot offer an
equivalent level of service to a good local ISP. With LanMinds,
whenever I send them a complaint about a spammer, I get a very
prompt, helpful reply, and that spammer is blocked from then on. The
same level of service manifests itself in their technical
support--whenever I've written I've gotten prompt, courteous, and
spot-on answers to my questions. Somehow I doubt I'll get that from
Earthlink.

Regardless, it may all be a moot point--I got the following when I
wrote to LanMinds to ask them about it:

>IC&C is short for Internet Commerce and Communications. They used to be
>knows as RMI.net, and they bought LanMinds/lmi.net last September. They
>made the decision to sell of the dial-up side of their business, so that
>is why this note was sent out. For what it's worth, we do not support this
>plan, and hope that customers will stay with us. We do not expect to
>terminate our dial-up service in the near future.
>
>LanMinds Internet Technical Support Department
>support@lmi.net 510-843-6389

Anyway, thanks for your help!
