Richard,
The bundle is Apple's promotional deal which is mostly being purchased by
students, and strictly optional. Not many departments need the Rio,
however, many have been buying the bundle.
My thoughts on the offer: it's a good deal for some people but, perhaps
obviously, not necessarily appealing to everyone.
For the price conscious, it's important to note: TSW's price on the laptop
alone is already discounted over any retail or apple direct price.
Kin

Kin Jung:
I'm about the order a G4 and saw the same "special offer". But if you take
out the "free" mp3 player, there doesn't seem to be anything special about
it: The Epson 777i lists for $89 and a 128M PC133 SDRAM DIMM sells,
typically, for $70-80. The G4 "special" also mentions a USB cable, but I
don't usually pay $10-20 for a USB cable.
Do you have any thoughts on this?
(I suppose one could say that the "free" player isn't free, and then, if you
want an mp3 player, this would be a good deal. I'm just not used to
including "free" toys in my business decisions, especially when they don't
appear to be free).
